EMMETT Technique

EMMETT Technique is a gentle body therapy developed by Ross Emmett, an Australian practitioner.  It is based on the belief that light touch can trigger a relaxation response in the soft tissue of the body, and the therapist may help relieve tensions resulting in feelings of improved comfort within the body. I did some EMMETT training back in 2011 and have been using bits of it ever since as a complement to the McTimoney chiropractic I use in clinic.

I was so impressed by the results I was getting I carried on with the training and qualified as an EMMETT practitioner (December 2012).

I use the Technique in clinic as an adjunct to other therapies and I also offer it as a standalone treatment for those people who just want an EMMETT Technique treatment without any chiropractic.

The EMMETT Technique is not intended to replace or substitute any medical advice or treatment. It is recommended that you consult your General Practitioner about any health concerns.

Give the clinic a call if you are interested in this approach (01733) 750893.

“… The even better thing I wish to draw to your attention, though, is McTimoney. I shan’t go into the medical/technical details: just Google it. Suffice to say that it’s a form of chiropractic devised 50 years ago which involves manipulations so incredibly gentle that during your first treatment you might worry you’re being ripped off. Where are the clicks? Where are the crunches? Where’s the pain to show you it’s all working?

Backache After a Difficult Pregnancy

A was a 42 year-old lady who came to the clinic with chronic backache and nerve pain (sciatica) radiating down her right leg.  She reported having ongoing back problems since the birth of her son 8 years previously. Both the pregnancy and delivery had been difficult – her son had been side-lying and required a forceps delivery. She reported that she had suffered from low level backache ever since – with episodes of acute pain and sciatica if she ‘overdid it’. She had previously been very active but, over time, the ongoing fear of aggravating the pain had forced her to do less and less.
