You will need to allow 60 minutes for your first appointment. The chiropractor will take a full medical history and will perform any orthopaedic or neurological tests necessary to assess your condition. If the chiropractor believes that you need medical attention, he will refer you back to your GP.

X-rays are not a routine part of the examination for McTimoney chiropractic.  If the chiropractor suspects a bone fracture or other condition requiring X-ray investigation he will refer you for suitable medical attention.

Many of our patients remain fully clothed throughout their visit to the clinic. You should wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move around on the treatment bench. Women may prefer to wear trousers. When necessary for proper assessment or treatment, the chiropractor may ask a patient to remove some clothing. Gowns are provided if required. If you are worried about getting undressed please explain your concerns to the chiropractor.

After the initial assessment, the chiropractor will explain his findings and give you an idea of how he thinks chiropractic may be able to help.  He will then ask if you want to go ahead with the treatment. Health insurance: all appointments need to be paid for on the day. If you have health insurance we are happy to provide you with a detailed receipt so that you can claim back the costs of treatment from your insurance company. As a GCC registered Chiropractor, treatment by Active Chiropractic is covered by most of the major health insurance companies. It is recommended that you speak to your insurer before coming for treatment to ensure that you are covered.
